Kyr Giorgis for good souvlakia and village taverna vibes in the centre of Thessaloniki

Kyr Giorgis is a gem. It occupies a street corner, lined with tables and dim lights that spill out onto the street, creating a calm, cosy neighbourhood buzz. It strongly references the village and harbours ties with small independent producers throughout Greece.

Konstantinos Gravanis hails from Elassona and has brought his village roots with him, now boasting a portfolio of hospitality ventures that put tradition and quality first; his first project, Kyra Sofi, is all about handmade village pites, and Kyr Giorgis last year also opened a biftekadiko (burger joint) spin off on Zefxidos.

Here you’ll find some of the best souvlakia and païdákia in the centre of Thessaloniki. You can read more from our conversation with Konstantinos not long after Kyr Giorgis opened in 2023.
