Where to eat in Thessaloniki
If, for some reason, you find yourself passing through Stavroupoli in the suburbs of Thessaloniki or, like us, tend to go out of your way to try the souvlakia that the locals eat, then this is one of them. Meaty souvlakia with a perfect meat:fat ratio that cover the grill and have locals queuing up for orders. Like the traditional souvlakia that spread throughout Greece in the second half of the 20th Century at ports and bus stations, but they’re slightly chunkier here at Zygos. You can have the souvlakia as they are or in a ‘sandwich’ – as the pita is often called in Thessaloniki.
